360iDev – Do you want to write?

For those of you that might not know, Tom and I have created a side business of 360|Conferences, called 360|Whisperings.

We’re changing technical publishing for the better (We hope!)

360|Whisperings, is all eContent, there’s no dead trees, none of the trappings (and time wasting) of traditional publishing… you know, write a book and by the time it’s out the programming language, OS, etc is in the next version.

We’re also not (at least at this time) interested in massive tomes, you know those books, the kind you’d use to kill a tarantula. We want articles, short books (or long articles), etc.

There’s no subscription, no monthly fees, it’s pay as you read. There’s a few sites already doing similar things, and you pay monthly, whether you get value from the content or not, whether an entire month is something you couldn’t care less about, etc.

with 360|Whisperings, we’re making technical content as available as itunes makes music. Why pay for a bunch of articles on Drupal? Why not just spend .99 or 2.99 on a technical artcile, from a known name in the field, that’s been reviewed and edited by Us, and that you can return if absolutely hate?

All that said, why don’t you sign on to write for us. We’re not a big publisher, so there’s no sliminess, there’s no contract locking you into our clutches forever.

Drop us an email and let’s talk about it!

This sounds like a really cool-slightly crazy idea! The idea of using micro-transactions (fuzzy recollections of some sci-fi I read ten years ago) for content has been around for a while but never really done well as far as I know.

I will be following your site to see what you do with this for sure!

Yeah we think it's time for better/more easy to consume micro payment content. Blogs are great, and will be a large entry into what we want to make available. And books, well books are books, and we don't want to compete with Pragmatic or O'Reilly
