360|iDev What’s being a speaker all about?

It occured to me, that those not familiar with 360|Flex, don’t know what being a speaker means for an event we organize. So here’s a quick primer on what being a speaker is all about the 360|Conferences way.

What’s your session like?
80 minutes. yes that’s longer than most, we’ve had more good than bad feedback on this. We think it allows for better discussion, most agree. You DO NOT have to talk for 80 minutes. for all we care, talk for 10 and have 70 minutes of discussion with the audience. They’re your 80 minutes, use them as you like.

Slide deck or code?
Most of our attendees prefer code. write it live or at least show some canned stuff. Slides are totally cool if your preso isn’t about code (duh). Feel free to mix it up, get multimedia on it, whatever you like. We try to provide a slide template, if you’re gonna have slides we like you to use it, but it’s not a requirement.

Deliver your preso.
Get it to us ASAP! It’s that simple. Attendees want it. You’re welcome to put it on your blog, but we tend to give out a USB drive to every attendee, and they like it when the preso and/or code is on the drive ahead of the preso.

Hotel:
We cover your hotel. We cover Sunday night, through Tuesday night.

Speaker Sponsor Dinner:
As a token of our appreciation for your being a speaker, we have a dinner for our awesome speakers and sponsors on Sunday night.

We like to say that being a speaker at a 360|Conferences, inc event is like being an attendee with a little more responsbility. We don’t want people who come only to speak, we want speakers who come to learn and enrich the community.

360iDev – What’s this is all about and call for papers

So we’re live and this is our official call for papers!

First, what is 360|iDev?
I’ll explain a bit, but the good reading is here at our company site (a blog) and here at 360|Flex’s blog.

360|iDev aims to be the hub for the iPhone developer community. We want to increase the size of the community, as well as raise the community up, sharing lessons learned in business, development, design, etc. We’re taking what we learned in the Flex developer community and bringing it to the iPhone community. Our goal is to make 360|iDev, the conference we’d attend to learn iPhone development and meet and network with peers in that development community.

There will be 4 tracks at 360|iDev:
Game Development
Non-game Application Development
The Business of iPhone development
Hands-on Training

Have something to talk about? Email us and let us know! Submit away! Time is short!
