Playing your iPhone/iTouch through your car speakers

I don’t get to game as often as I’d like.  Therefore, I’m getting very much into casual gaming, especially on my iPod Touch.  The other day, I took my brother-in-law to the chiropractor after our workout at the gym.  This gave me 15 minutes to play a game.  I’m currently stuck on FieldRunners.

Me defending my tower

Me defending my tower...poorly. LOL

As I got ready to play, I remember that I had one of those radio transmitters for my traditional iPod.  I like long road trips and love to zone out to the music.  The Ford Escape, surprisingly, has a good sound system in it, including a subwoofer.

After a quick setup, I was feeling my blasts vs hearing them squeak outta the device speakers.  I was getting very into it until I had that “Someone is watching me” feeling.  I look up and sure enough, one of the patients had stopped to wonder why there was a war going on inside my car.  The windows were down (I’m in Arizona) and I think the entire parking lot was sharing my gaming experience.  :)

We’ll need to get Subatomic Studios out to our next 360|iDev to get the lowdown on the behind-the-scenes.  If you’ve had a similar experience, do tell so I don’t feel like the only total geek.

360iDev Slides on SlideShare

We promised we’d get them uploaded, and yeah it took longer than planned, sorry about that. I spent some time the last week and went ahead and uploaded each deck.

Those that have example code, right now we don’t have the code up, but if you email us we can zip it up and make it available on FTP.

Enjoy the slides

If you don’t see a slide for a session you’d like, let the speaker know :)

We’ve got a ton of awesome training options for our free (for registered attendees) pre-conference training on Sunday 3/1.

All training is at the conference venue, so the place you’ll be Mon-Wed is the place you’ll be Sunday too. For those that don’t know that address, it’s

We’ve got Phonegap going on all day, for the JavaScript crowd to learn how to built native applications, with all the SDK API goodness, with JavaScript.

We’ve also got Tech2000 doing a half day, SDK 101 session, to introduce folks to the iPhone SDK and Obj-C world. Looking to get started with iPhone dev? This will be the session to get started.

360|iDev Evening Festivities – Sunday, Monday, Tues

Lots of people have been asking: Should I stay near the conference center? What they’re really asking is: Are we gonna party? The answer is: Oh yeah, you betcha. The best thing is spouses/significant others/partners are invited to join you: FREE. Just let us know they’re coming so we can make sure to have enough stuff.

We have 3 nights of great networking opportunities for you. The nice thing is that you won’t have to go very far to party. Each night’s revelry will be at the conference center, right outside the meeting rooms.

What can you expect? We’ll have some appetizers to fill your belly along with some beverages to wash it all down. You can share a beer with a speaker or chat over a root beer float with a fellow attendee. If you’re on twitter and made a drink suggestion, we passed that along to our caterer. If there’s some particular appetizers you like, drop a comment and let us know. No guarantees, but we’ll at least ask if we can get them.

In addition to drinks and munchies, we’ll also have some Guitar Hero III and Rock Band action going on. You’d better practice before you arrive, because the competition tends to be fierce.

These are the sponsors that you can thank for each night’s party, in addition to the time slots for each day.

Sunday – 6:30p to 8:30p – Nitobi and 360Conferences

Monday – 5:20p to 8:30p – O’Reilly

Tuesday – 5:20p to 8:30p – Medialets and 360Conferences

If you haven’t registered yet, you should do so now. Prices went up to $350, but that price alone is worth the 3 nights of networking. Not to mention that you get 4 days of awesome sessions and training thrown in at no extra charge. ;)

360iDev – What does the conference mean for attendees?

We’re almost there! 360|iDev is coming up fast! We’re just a few weeks away!

We wanted to take a minute to make sure everyone knows what it means to be an attendee of a 360Conferences event, in case ya’ll didn’t know.

Starting Sunday, we offer our full day of hands on training, which is free for registered attendees. After you’ve crammed some awesome iPhone dev hands on knowledge into your brain, join us for a welcome reception Sunday night. It’s our way of kicking off the conference with some fun times! It’s at the conference venue, so it’s easy to find. It’s also your opportunity to pick up your conference badge and goodies (see a bit farther down) before Monday morning.

Monday kicks off the first real day of the conference, with a light breakfast (danishes and such) and then some more kick ass content. Lunch is provided, all three days, don’t brownbag it, or plan to find your own, and hold on to your per diem :) We’ll have your back, food wise all three days!

What can you expect when you check in for your badge?

Did some one say goodies? Every attendee gets a badge (of course), a 2GB USB drive with speaker presentations on it, and (if you opted for it) a copy of The Cluetrain Manifesto. You’ll also get any printed collateral our sponsors provide.

We have two (if you’ve looked at the amazing schedule you know this) keynotes, Monday is a welcome keynote where Tom and I welcome everyone, and then the awesome Mike Lee will keynote.

Wednesday, Tom and I wrap up the conference with our keynote. We like to run down the conference, giving everyone a glimpse of what the conference is all about, what goes into it, all that.  We also give some time to the community to showcase what they’re working on.  Have something you want to debut?  Have a secret something you want to show and get some feedback on?  Drop us a line info@360idev.com and let us know.

Not to mention that eBay is gonna give us a sneak peek on what they’re working on during one of the keynotes.  It’s their house and some people from their Research Lab is gonna give us a sneak peek at some of their iPhone development projects.

If you’re not sure about 360|iDev, find a Flex developer, and ask them about 360|Flex, you’ll be convinced.  Or just read some reviews of that show here.

Register now, don’t miss the chance to be a part of the what will surely be the best iPhone developer conference!

360iDev: iPhone work is hot in a down economy

I was reading the ByteClub blog (That’s just a GREAT company name) and stumbled upon this great post by Peter. I could copy that post verbatim, but figured I’d just mention the highlights.

Let’s start with the title of the post:

“Stating the obvious: Now is the time to learn iPhone development”

We here at 360Conferences thought so and hence why we decided to do a conference so quickly.

“Job offers in this particular field seem to be on the rise.”

In this troubled economy, any field that has job offers on the rise is the field you want to be in.  Period.  Doubt Peter is right?  Check out this site: http://1984jobs.com/

“That is, if you got the skills.”

That’s where 360|iDev is hoping to come into play.  For $200 (if you act quick, $350 if you hold out longer) you can enjoy 6 hands-on sessions and roughly 40 speaker led sessions.  Imagine that.  Being able to find the skills necessary to launch a new career in these troubled times for under the price of a new XBox 360 or PS3.  Heck, it will cost you more money to buy the device that you will be developing on than it is to pay for your admission to the show.

(Yes, I realize that total cost will include hotel, travel, etc.  But any conference/training will and if you’re resourceful, you can get that for cheap too.  We’re even trying to help by facilitating this wiki.)

One of the purposes of 360|iDev is to get the iPhone development community together.  We think it is better to learn from one another and build on each other’s successes.  Come mingle with people who will likely become lifelong twitter friends, people who will help you learn to be successful in this great new platform.

Sure, we could be trying to charge more for this show.  And to be honest, we initially were going to.  But we realized that times are tough and it’s more important to get folks here learning than it is for us to make a killing in profit.

So do us a favor and help us spread the word.  We have only a few weeks left, but we have the room and the speakers to help folks out.  People can register at:
http://360idev.eventbrite.com

If you haven’t registered yet, get yourself registered.  This party is gonna rock!  :)
