360iDev 2013 – Call For Papers Closes 4-15

The title says it all. This is your fair warning, the Call For Papers, will be closing at noon on April 15th.

Not 1pm. Not End of Day. Not midnight or 11:59. 12 noon, Mountain time.

We’ve already got almost 100 submissions! We’re super stoked so many folks want to present at 360|iDev 2013!

If you haven’t submitted, don’t delay, 360|iDev is all about the community sharing what they know! It’s your turn!

See you in September

360iDev 2013. Call For Papers…. OPEN

That’s right boys and girls! It’s that time! Got something to share? Something awesome, something that will blow everyone’s minds? Then that’s what you should submit for 360|iDev 2013.

360|iDev 2013 is gonna be great! Not only are we expecting to sell out again (and are already on our way to that goal) but we’re really going to try to raise the bar higher than ever. We want really technical talks, really experimental ideas, things no one else is doing or talking about.

360|iDev always has the best content from the best folks, let’s keep that trend going. Whether you want to present on business, development or design, go submit your topic RIGHT NOW. Don’t wait. Don’t send us an email after the CFP closes, don’t tweet about how sad you are you didn’t get to submit. Go submit something awesome, right now.

The Opening of the Call For Papers is always part of the worst part of the conference. Having to choose form hundreds of awesome submissions. If you’ve ever submitted to an event and not heard back, or gotten a form letter email, that’s not what we do. It’s time consuming and makes me really sad, but we email every submitter a person email telling them we couldn’t accept their submission. With as much heart and soul as people put into submissions, it’s the right thing to do, letting them know in a timely manner. So yeah the process begins today! Go submit something! Be Brave!

Oh and if you’re curious how the process works, in the interest of transparency and encouraging as much diversity as possible, we detailed the process here.

See You Next Week

Attendee

This time next week, we’ll be in Las Vegas watching awesome speakers present new and exciting topics. We’re really happy to have a mix of new and returning speakers from the 360|iDev world with us.

We’ll start with a Night of Meat after some epic Sportsball watching. Then Monday morning everyone will spend 2 days learning new things, whether it’s business, design or development.

Don’t let the price tag fool you, you’re gonna leave with way more than $200-300 worth of new information, skills, and connections in the community. We just don’t like over charging people, and believe events should be an investment in your future, but shouldn’t require taking out a loan.

Did you see any of David Whatley’s Keynotes at 360|iDevs past? Did ya leave the room with your mind blown, ready to go change how you run your business whether it’s just your or an entire team? Well just imagine what he’s got in store for you this time :)

Did you hear how awesome Danielle Reubenstein’s session was at 360|iDev 2012? Guess what?

Wanna hear how Nick Arnott breaks things? We’re happy to have Nick presenting at [360|iDev min] and look forward to seeing him present more often!

Every speaker at [360|iDev min] was hand picked and invited so that we could provide a line up with a great mix of technical, business, and design.

With the help of Sponsors like Millennial Media, Shinobi Controls, Empirical Development and Omega Ortega and more, we’ve got great stuff lined up for everyone starting Sunday night all the way thru the last session on Tuesday! Make sure you thank the sponsors for being so awesome and supportive of the iOS developer community. They don’t just throw out give aways, they’re buying lunch, shirts, BEER! and more, and most importantly, want to talk to you, not sell to you.

Of course, it’s also Vegas! Come early spend the weekend enjoying all that Vegas has to offer, then spend two days getting 4 days worth of information flooded into your head.

Time’s running out; Vegas is a fun place to be, you’ll learn a ton, get a limited attendee only shirt, and who knows, maybe a special discount on 360|iDev 2013… Just saying, there’s lots of reasons to join us in Las Vegas next week. See you there!

One of the best parts of 360iDev min

IMG_7234You can get technical content most anywhere; the internet, books, podcasts, tutorials, etc. (though we’re pretty damn proud of the technical content lined up for [360|iDev min]… Just sayin’)

But what you can’t get online are experiences like this:

Sitting down to lunch over a burger, talking to the developer of several hugely successful sports apps.

chatting with the developer of several massively successful iOS games over snacks and beer after a day of mind blowing sessions.

Sitting next to the QA guy that broke the news that Simple and many other banking apps are crazy insecure while you watch one of the guys above present.

Trading design ideas with the gal that had one of the highest rated talks at 360|iDev 2012.

Laughing over breakfast with the guy who’s company gives indie developers the insight they need into how their apps are doing in the app store.

Trading horror stories with the guy who will be reviewing your next blockbuster game for TUAW over lunch at one of dozens of restaurants around the conference.

And more, many many more. Every speaker and attendee is an awesome unique experience waiting to happen while you attend [360|iDev min], and of course, then there’s the 12 sessions of actually great technical content.

There’s a few spots left! See you there!

360iDev min is coming up fast!

logo-black-lettersSo yeah [360|iDev min] is a thing! It’s been a thing for a while and this post was sitting in draft, oops.

Why min? That’s easy. 360|iDev is one of the funnest things we do all year. But’s a big deal, we’ve tried doing 2  a year and it almost killed us physically and financially. Moving around a 4 day, 4 track conference is tricky, that’s why we don’t do it anymore. But there’s so many cool places we’d like to see, so many cool places attendees would like to see, and so many people we want to see more than once a year!

SO….

The very first (of more than one, we hope) [360|iDev min] will be in Las Vegas February 4-5.

Map

Why Vegas? Well if we had a buck for every time someone said “Do a conference in vegas” we wouldn’t need to do conferences… so.. there it is. First stop, Las Vegas! Plus we’ve got a really cool venue right above an Apple store, that’s perfect for something this size.

We’ve got 12 incredibly awesome speakers. Some have spoken at past 360|iDev events, some are new to us and we’re happy to have them with us. We’ve got awesome sponsors, who love the iOS community supporting us. Sponsorship is more than just giving raffle prizes, that’s easy and costs next to nothing

Also with min, we want to make the whole thing a no brainer! $90/night hotel, close enough to walk, but also with a shuttle that goes right to the conference, a venue with nearly 20 bars and restaurants around it for all the fun after session stuff :) $199 ticket price for 2 days, 12 sessions, lots of awesome. $279 if want a Night of meat…

A Night of Meat?!?!

Damn straight! What iOS event doesn’t start with a night of meat! A tradition dating back to the dawn of man, the Night of Meat is a staple of being a part of the iOS Community. The Sunday before [360|iDev min] we’ll meet at the Texas De Brazil in the same complex as the conference to socialize with sponsors and speakers, enjoy a great meal (there’s an AWESOME salad bar for the non meat eaters) before the brain melting sessions begin. Start off on the right foot, with a full tummy!

See you there! Space is limited! Don’t miss out! There’s events about App Makers, then there’re events for App Makers… see you in vegas! Register now!

360iDev 2012 – Ask Me Anything

We finally decided what to do with that last time slot of the day…

A speaker panel of Ask Me Anything.

We’ve asked

Kyle Richter

Marcus Zarra

Jaimee Newberry and

Andria Jensen

to spend that last session of the day on Wednesday before we all go home, answering questions from the audience on anything. Presumably things they can answer :)

It should be a fun way to wrap up the conference.

See you next week! Only 5 tickets left.

360iDev 2012 Night of Meat on Mapquest

Our friends at Mapquest have 12 seats at the 360|iDev Night Of Meat, taking place Sunday (the 9th) night at 6:00.

We’re helping them find good homes for those Night of Meat seats. To win one just leave a comment here. First 12 comments are the winners.

Please make sure you can actually attend the Night Of Meat. It’s Sunday night in Downtown Denver. The organizers are working out ride sharing but you could also light rail up for about $4. While you don’t have to be an attendee to get in on Night Of Meat, why wouldn’t you be attending?

Just answer this question the comments.

Where and what year was the first 360|iDev?

That’s it. easy right? :)

360iDev 2012 – Apple event on Wednesday?

So yeah rumors are flying like crazy that there’s gonna be an Apple event on the 12th, which of course is the last day of 360|iDev 2012… Coincidence? Actually yeah I wish we had that kind of juice, but it’s a total coincidence :)

We’re working on an alternate schedule for Wednesday that would allow us to do a general session at 11am (typically when Apple events are held Mountain time) so we can watch the love blog action. So if for some reason you thought being at 360|iDev would mean you’d miss the announcement, don’t sweat it. We’ll make sure we’re all watching it. And really, watching the live blog with a few hundred other iOS geeks, is way more fun than watching it along :)

Lunch might be early on Wednesday, but otherwise, we’ll make the schedule work around the Apple Event if it takes place on the 12th

See you next month! We’re doing to 50 tickets, have you gotten yours?

360iDev 2012 shirts are so fun

Sure you can have a boring old conference shirt, with conference name, date, sponsor logo(s) etc on it and it’s likely to be a gym shirt.

Or you can get creative. We really kind of pride ourselves on our conference shirts. Letting sponsors take active roles in the design of the shirt, etc. This year is no different and while I’m not gonna show you the entire mock up I’ll show ya a sneak. Mainly because i like the shirt to be a little bit of a surprise when possible, but also because i want those who’re attending to see the design first.

Mad props to Stephen Ives of Cocoa is My Girlfriend (our shirt sponsor) for coming up with a really cool design. Can’t wait to show everyone.

See you in September. Don’t miss out on the iOS conference of the year :) Register now!

360iDev 2012 – Great things come of the Game Jam

For amy this won’t be news at all.

Unicorn Rush was born in 2010 in San Jose, at 360|iDev. It was a Game Jam game, prototyped and built (mostly) in the course of one caffeine and sugar fueled night.

Stuff like this is why we support and love having the game jam at 360|iDev. Seeing folks build something new, completely from scratch in just a few hours, and then actually taking it live to the App store later, is so much win.

Keith and Natalia did it during the Denver 2009 360|iDev (IIRC) with Hippo High Dive as well. There’s more, many more, but you get the point. Whether you’ve got 10 or 0 apps in the App Store when you arrive at 360|iDev on Sunday, there’s a very good chance you can leave with one nearly ready to submit if you want.

so if the Game Jam wasn’t something you were thinking about doing, maybe you should re-think that :)

The Game Jam is also independently run from the conference, we believe it’s better to let the community run the Jam. So check out their page, and by the way they still need some sponsors to cover food, snacks, etc. It’s a great and inexpensive way to support the community.

See you in September! Register now before it’s too late!
