360idev – USB Hunt at WWDC is a go!

At the time of this writing Drive 3 is out and about. More will be following today and tomorrow.

They’ll be placed all around (maybe inside?) Moscone. I’ll tweet clues and pictures of their locations.

Special Thanks to Owen Goss, Nathan Eror, Shane Crawford, Chris Adamson, Yadong Liu, Cory Smith, and Saul Mora for the promo codes to some of their awesome apps, and games.

Each drive has a unique code for a free pass to 360|iDev Austin, this November, in addition to 8 promo codes from the awesome developers I mentioned!

This is a great chance for you to get some great apps, and a free pass to the best iPhone Developer conference around.

Can’t find the drives? Not at WWDC? Register now, before the early 100 tickets sell out. They’re already selling fast!

360idev – the wrap up

Well, 360|iDev San Jose has come and gone. And while I work on the fall event. You know the one right after WWDC (assuming it’s announced soon) where we all publicly talk about the cool NDA stuff we’ve been playing with for months. You can enjoy the awesome session materials from San Jose.

Download the session materials here, it’s a single DMG file of every slide deck and code sample we collected, which was most of them.

The session videos are being worked on right now and those who attended the conference already have access to them. Once we get the payment handling figured out we’ll blog that URL, we definitely want anyone who wants access to the videos to be able to get them easilly and affordably. On that note, if you have any suggestions for how to handle individual purchases of videos, let us know! We’ve got plenty of streaming hosting, but have not found any turnkey solutions to sell single sessions. We’d rather not sell them all as a single download at a high price.

Save the date(s). while we don’t have a specific date/location locked in, we’re planning around September, just like Denver. RIght now we’re looking at Austin or Washington DC. I know Austin isn’t the East Coast, but we go where the largest collection of developers are. We’re researching that now.

Regardless of location, we’re looking at September, so mark your calendars.

The Question is, 360iDev Europe?

Some of you might know that we’ve been thinking about taking 360|iDev overseas. We’ve done it once (and are planning to again) with 360|Flex.

We think it’s about time Europe got a taste of 360|iDev. The question is. Where? and how big is iPhone development in Europe?

We’re looking at Amsterdam and Germany, but are open to other ideas. The big question is, is there enough interest.

We very badly want to take the fun and awesome that is 360|iDev to Europe, but need to know there’s enough interest in Europe.

So what do you guys on the other side of the pond think?

Where should we go? Is Europe ready?

Spread this post around, leave comments, etc. We’re actively looking for as much data as we can get. User group membership numbers, etc. It all helps ensure we do this right, and deliver the most kick ass iPhone conference Europe has ever seen :) (Dream big, right!)

Plug and Play Tech Center event tomorrow night.

This is primarily for our local to Silicon Valley peeps and anyone attending 360|iDev, who gets into town early! ;)

Plug and Play Tech Center is hosting a cool iPhone Play: iPad event in Sunnyvale.

Details are below! If you’re in the area, you should check it out! Looks like a great time! $15 bucks is an awesome price too!

We are adding a Tech-Series to the iPhone-Play event as a segment to the iPhone-Play events. The Tech-Series subsection will explore important or compelling development issues that will be informative for business people and developers alike. The segments will highlight aspects of the magic of the iPhone, iPad and other mobile topics in a 15 – 20 min presentation.

The theme of this iPhone Play is “How to leverage development on the iPad”. Our first speaker – Micheal Hoch will start the discussion with a Tech Talk on how the iPad poses a unique opportunity for developers.

Will will also allow 5 hot iPad Application companies demo their cool products.

Here is the event logistics:

  • 5:30 – 6:00pm – Networking w/Beer and Pizza
  • 6:00 – 6:30pm – Keynote Tech Talk - Michael Hoch
  • 7:00 – 7:30pm – 5 iPad App presentations
  • 7:30 – 8:00pm – Cocktail reception, demo stations, and networking

There’s also an Expo coming up in May that looks pretty awesome! Makes me wish I lived in the Valley… Mostly.

360iDev – Getting around San Jose is easy

If you booked your 360|iDev stay at the Marriott (or anywhere near it really), getting around is easy. We’ve got a shuttle that will run in the morning, and at night, Monday thru Wednesday.

All you gotta do is be downstairs when the shuttle is there and you’re all set, ride in comfort from the Marriott to Ebay Town Hall.

The shuttle schedule is below, make sure to keep it in mind!

April 11th: Sorry no shuttle on Sunday.

April 12th:

Morning 7am – 8am
Evening 7:30pm – 8:30pm

April 13th
Morning 7:30am – 8:30am
Evening 7:30pm – 8:30pm

April 14th
Morning 7:30am – 8:30am

Sleep in? No worries. If you miss the shuttle, the VTA station right outside the Marriott will get you to Ebay Town hall in no time at all (well, actually about 20 minutes). It’s about $2 for a 1 way ticket.

360iDev – Wiki

If you saw the announcement of BOF sessions, you know we have a wiki we use for the ad hoc stuff around the conference.

We updated the wiki for one more bit of ad hoc. Activities.

If you’re planning a trip to the mothership or hitting a specific bar one night, or a movie on Wednesday or lunch on Saturday  before the conference, whatever. Post it on the activities page of the wiki.

This way folks looking for the fun, can find it easily ;) It truly does suck to have to hunt for fun :)

On the main page of the wiki is also a few links for hotel searches in the area. If you missed the room block, shame on you, but we don’t want ya sleepin’ on the street, so check those links for other options.

360iDev – Volunteer to help out and get in free

We realize that the economy still a little suck-tastic. As you may know we try to keep our events as cost effective as possible, 40 sessions, Sunday hands on. Hotel block pricing to help lower the cost of staying near the event, etc.

Sometimes it’s not enough, we get that. Back in September we experimented with having volunteers. We’ve had temps at past events (360|Flex San Jose ’07 and Seattle) and while that works ok, we tried to reduce the need, because that helped keep our costs low.

BUT

We’ve realized, time and again that we still need manpower at certain points, and in fact we’re planning to increase our need (More on that later).

Registration is a bottleneck, whether it’s just Tom and I, or my wife Nicole, or anyone else who pities us in our time of greatest need.

SO…

We’d like to open the call for volunteers. Obviously locals are preferred but anyone is welcome to apply. It’s simple, we need about 8-10 volunteers. In exchange for a few hours a day of time, you get a free pass to the conference and when we don’t need you, you’re free to attend sessions etc. We can’t cover hotel/airfare etc. Just admission to the event.

If the price to get in the door is outside your budget for whatever reason, this might be the perfect opportunity for you.

Here’s what you need to do.

Email us at info (AT) 360idev (Dot) com

We need:

Your Name

Why you’d like to volunteer

Your background in iPhone development

That’s about it :) You need to be able to commit to Sunday thru Wednesday and be at Ebay by 7:30am each day.

Our needs aren’t over the top or anything. We need help making the badge pickup/registration process faster. We hate having to delay the keynote in order to hand things out, etc.

We’re hoping to get some sort of basic videography set up for each room. As volunteer you’ll be in charge of starting and stopping the recording for that room, and telling the speaker when he/she has 10 and 5 minutes left. That’s it. After each session, you’ll have to bring the camera to us to offload the video, that’s it.

We’ve got a schedule worked out, so no one will be working all day every day.

We’ll be making volunteer selections the week of March 15th. Spread the word, the submission window isn’t open long!

360iDev make a video win Adobe CS4

Blah blah, Flash this, Flash that :) CS4 is an awesome tool for anyone doing design work, let alone if you do any HTML work (Dreamweaver anyone)

You’ve got about 2 months until 360|iDev,  we’ve got a contest. Make a video about 360|iDev, win a copy of Adobe CS4.

Not a trial, the full blown real deal. One winner will come away with Adobe CS4.

We explained it here.

Here’s an example of what one of our speakers made for 360|Flex.

It’s that simple. If we get enough, we’ll run them before the keynotes at 360|iDev!

360iDev – Get your iPad Dev on!

So yeah, iPad this iPad that :) The best part of Apple’s new iPad, is that it runs the iPhone OS, that means our awesome speakers and attendees now have one more kick ass platform to write apps and games for.

That also means that 360|iDev is now THE event for developers writing apps for the iTouch, the iPhone, or the iPad. You won’t have to wait for WWDC, or for the next 360|iDev around the end of summer some time. You can get awesome iPad related sessions right now, this April.

We’ll be working with our speakers to update any presentations that make sense, to include iPad related materials, but right now we know for certain, Kendall Gelner, who’s delivering our Sunday Adv. Debugging session, will be leading a panel discussion on the iPad.

This panel will be awesome, how can it not be. 360|iDev falls right around when the iPad should begin shipping. That means there’s gonna be a lot to talk about!

We’ll keep you posted as we update more sessions to include iPad stuff.

Don’t miss out on the most technically deep conference for developers around. 40+ sessions, 40 speakers, 4 days, hands-on training. All for a really awesome price! Half the price of most training sessions, which only cover 1-2 things.

Register now! Don’t miss out!
