360iDev – help a college get some Macs

Speaker Serban Porumbescu will be teaching an iPhone Developer course at UC Davis, starting just before 360|iDev (Yeah two weeks). Problem is the school is doing budget cuts and well, there’s no macs. Kinda hard to develop for the iPhone without Macs right?

There’s a Mac lab of course, but that’s hardly the same, and scheduling wise impossible.

Serban needs awesome companies that are interesting in giving a little something back to help him purchase macs.

The course will end up on iTunes just like the Standford courses, and sponsors will get their logo or even a short commercial type blurb in the video, as a “This course sponsored by…” type of thing. Larger sponsors will get their own spot, smaller ones will be together with other smaller sponsors.

Anything else, Mac Minis, Macbooks, etc.

Serban is handling the logistics of this and we’re sure the school will get involved, heck maybe it’s a nice write off. Maybe you’ve got old Macbook Pro’s laying around somewhere in the office?

Talk to Serban at 360|iDev, or we can provide his email address if you’re interested. Time is sadly short on this so if your company is awesome and wants to help the next generation of iPhone developers, step up! It’s a good cause, it’s probably tax deductable :)

The absolute deadline is Oct 5, that’s when Serban expects the class to start coding.

If you haven’t registered yet for 360|iDev you’re going to miss the best iPhone developer conference of 2009! Hands down, I kid you not! Register now for 4 days, 40+ speakers, 3 parties, and more! It’s gonna be a great time, with more incredible content than you can consume.

360iDev – iPhone 101 Hands On Training Sunday

AOILogo

We’re happy to announce that we’ve finally locked down the details for the iPhone 101 hands on Training. Jonathan Lehr, from About Objects, will be with us Sunday for a full day of hands on goodness!

If you’re looking at attending the iPhone 101, check out the awesome outline of what you’re going to learn!

Jonathan does training all around the globe so we know our 101′ers will be in excellent hands. You can see what other courses are offered to extend your education, post360|iDev here (iPhone) and here (Obj-C)

This is just a sample of what’s in the outline (Above)

This training class will have you completely ready to dive into our regular conference schedule Monday thru Wednesday and not be overwhelmed. Not only will you know what you’re getting into for the regular sessions, but you’re gonna be ready to dive in fully and come out Wednesday ready to start submitting apps!

We’re really excited to be able to offer a 101 Hands on course. Education is important and while we love that our topics trend towards the advanced, we want to make sure those with less iPhone development experience can attend the conference and still come away with a great feeling of learning.

We don’t charge for our Sunday training (Have you checked the schedule lately?) because we think there’s no reason to. We want as many of our attendees to join us Sunday to increase their knowledge and skill set. Yes, you heard that correctly!  NO EXTRA FEE for this full day of hands-on training, it’s included in your registration fee.

If you still had doubts on whether this was the show for you, hopefully this seals the deal. Make sure to register now! The price goes up on Monday by $100. We’d rather you register now and save your money :) Save the cash to do a Starbucks run for Tom (Toffee Nut Steamer), John (Mocha Frappucino) and Jonathan (not sure his order yet) during the show.  Thanks in advance!  ;)

Apress is the Official Sponsor of 360|iDev

Today we’re very proud to announce a new partnership with Apress as the Official Sponsor of 360|iDev.

This is a very important announcement for a few reasons:

  1. It’s a great fit: Speakers will pretend like they can’t possibly fill up one of our 80 minute slots, but they do.  Afterwards, they find out that they have a whole heck of a lot more to say.  What better place than a book to say that.
  2. Free books: What developer in their right mind doesn’t like free books?  Not to mention that, but we’re talking quality stuff.  (Note: Tom’s read 2 of Apress dev books and loves ‘em)  When you’re the official sponsor that means you bring a whole lotta books. :)
  3. Bigger Reach: 360|iDev is slowly making inroads as far as reach goes.  Granted, we don’t have name recognition like WWDC does, but we’re slowly getting there.  With Apress, we can hopefully reach a lot more developers out there that can benefit from the conference.

Having an official show sponsor is a new thing for us.  It’s something that we’ll have to investigate and grow, much like everything we do in relation to the shows.  The most important thing for us though is making sure that the official sponsor is a great fit for our attendees.

We’ll be honest.  The concept/idea wasn’t ours.  We’ve been chatting with the folks at Apress for the past couple of weeks in an attempt to expand their participation at the event.  From editors to marketing folks, everyone we’ve chatted with has been awesome!  It’s therefore with great excitement that we announce them as the first Official Sponsor of 360|iDev.  It’s a relationship that we hope will continue to grow and evolve as the show does.

For those of you waiting on the sidelines, wondering if this show will be a good fit for you, wait no more.  With Apress as the official sponsor, this edition of 360|iDev is going to be that much better.  Register now and join what’s sure to be a great event.

360iDev – Mad Props to our Sponsors!

I wanted to take a minute to congratulate our current sponsors on being awesome!

Not only have they signed on to be a part of the best iPhone developer conference ever (yeah that includes the last 360|iDev!) but they’re great companies!

Make sure to thank each one when you see them at the conference!

If you’re wondering if sponsorship is right for you, ask yourself this. Do you want to meet a few hundred iPhone developers? Do you want more than just a logo on a big sign in the main hall? Do you want to have a physical presence developers can stop by and talk? Do you want your brand on something they’ll use every day? Do you want to meet and interact with some of the biggest names in the industry during a speaker/sponsor dinner the night before? If any of that garnered a ‘yes’ or even a ‘mmm sounds interesting’ check out our sponsor packet. Our sponsors are more than just purses with logos. they’re our business partners and we do everything we can to make sure our events meet their needs.

Register now! Waiting doesn’t get you anything and space is filling up fast! Don’t miss the iPhone developer conference of the year!
