It was pointed out that we don’t keep a list of past event speakers so someone new to the conference could get a feel for what type of awesome people we bring to the table. We’re fixing that

 

2012
Brandon Alexander is an author, speaker and developer. Coming from Atlanta, Georgia, he spends his days working at Black Pixel and his evenings watching his daughter grow up and enjoying life with his wife.
Gustavo Ambroziohas been working with software development since he was 15. He was always passionate about coding and computers.For the past few years he’s acted as the main Software Engineer for Dimension Data Brasil doing a lot of internal projects always using the latest platforms to deliver a great product for clients.

Since 2009 he has been developing for iOS part time. His first project (Brasileirao 2009 Live) reached 2nd on the most bought application on the Brazilian app store within 4 days of launch. Since then he’s developed some outside apps and some apps of his own.

Now he works mostly with iOS but has always been a polyglot programmer so he still also codes in Java, Javascript, bash, among others. He recently fell in love with Python and Django so he’s trying to do all my server side code with them.

Mohammad Azamis the founder of the knowledge based website www.highoncoding.com which hosts more than 600 articles and several hundred videos. He is also the Microsoft ASP.NET MVP. At present Mohammad Azam is digging deep into the iPhone framework including the Cocos2d framework for game development. Azam also hosts a Cocos2d podcast with Steffen Itterheim.Azam is a frequent speaker at local Houston events including Houston TechFest. Azam has authored several articles for DevProConnections and Code-Magazine. When not programming Azam likes to spend time with his lovely wife and beautiful daughter.

Carl Brown started writing software to solve problems for customers more than 15 years ago. One day, he had a customer ask him to develop a networked application for the Palm VII. A few years later in 2005, believing mobile development to be the future, he founded his own company: PDAgent, LLC (he also thought at the time that the acronym “”PDA”" would remain the relevant name for mobile computers, but hey, you win some, you lose some). He’s been doing iPhone development since 2008 and has worked on several iPhone apps for customers, including LIVESTRONG.com, HomeAway and CanWeStudios.com.
Jeff Biggus is the founder of HyperJeff, Inc, producing Unix, Mac, iOS apps, and custom in-house software for companies, specializing in scientific software. He has been an independent programming consultant for more than 15 years. Jeff cut his teeth on programming back in the early 1980′s on the Apple ][+. He started the HyperJeff Network back in 1994, a site serving the Mac OS X community since the early Rhapsody days.
Working from a secret hideout in Palo Alto, Tim Burks writes apps for iPhones and iPads. Originally trained in computer-aided design of integrated circuits, he has a Ph. D. in Computer Engineering from the University of Michigan. After a few years in Austin, TX writing CAD tools for PowerPC designs, Tim moved to California to join an EDA startup, Magma Design Automation. But when the iPhone SDK was released in 2008, he switched his focus to iPhone apps and has built apps for MobileIron, Zip Realty, France Telecom, and a number of startups. Tim also organizes the Silicon Valley iOS Developers’ Meetup Group, a monthly networking and educational event for iOS developers that meets in Palo Alto and other cities around the bay area. Tim lives in Los Altos, CA with his wife Linda and five of their six children; their oldest is spending his first year at UCLA studying math and music.
Brian Cauble earned a Bachelors in Electrical & Computer Engineering and a Masters in Information & Engineering Management, only to decide he really wanted to be an entrepreneur when he grew up! Talk to him and you’ll see that he loves mobile apps and helping entrepreneurs make Birmingham a better place (www.BirminghamEntrepreneur.com). You will also find a sincere passion for meeting people and helping them however he can. All this has translated into his laser focus on understanding what makes a business tick and finding the perfect mobile solution for each business.

Joe Cieplinski is Creative Director of Bombing Brain Interactive, makers of the wildly successful Teleprompt+ for iPad, iPhone, and OS X, as well as the new Setlists for iPad. Joe began his career as an English teacher and has taught technology to students of all ages in academic as well as corporate training environments. Joe spent several years as one of the early presenters for Apple’s retail initiative, presenting classes such as Introduction to Mac, Garageband, iTunes, and several others at the Apple Store in Palo Alto. He has been designing iPhone, iPad, and Mac applications for five years in collaboration with two engineers who happen to be lifelong friends.
Collin Donnell
As the founder and lead developer at Free Time Studios, Nathan Eror spends his days coding, teaching and writing, and he wouldn’t have it any other way. Since founding Free Time Studios in 2009, he has helped many organizations such as NASA, Thompson Reuters, and the U.S. Army ship their iOS apps and train their development teams. He is currently working closely with Sony Pictures and Spectre Media to bring the first ever Starship Troopers game to iOS. Nathan believes that a thriving community is the foundation of a great platform, and he devotes much of his time to the Cocoa community. His seminars and technical presentations are popular attractions at iOS and Mac developer conferences around the globe, and he is an active member of the developer community in Houston.
Kendall Gelner has been a professional software developer for over two decades, dabbling in Mac development for a number of years before moving to iPhone development full time with the release of the iPhone SDK in 2006. He has worked on a number of independent projects but primarily works on iPhone consulting projects through Double Encore, an iPhone exclusive consulting firm based in Denver. In the process of building applications for clients he has made use of almost every framework in the iPhone SDK and built a wide range of fantastic applications. Kendall has also appeared at a number of iPhone conferences in the U.S. and internationally to speak about XCode and advanced debugging techniques.

A passionate game developer and designer, Gareth Jenkinsis a believer and expert in getting things done with small teams, iterative development and smart technology choices.He founded both 36peas and Productivity Balloon and as well as developing 1st party titles, consults on a variety of gaming and related projects on iOS and elsewhere. His background is in AI and intelligent systems, and his experience has been brought to bear on everything from traditional game front- and back-ends to systems and architecture.

Gareth gave two very-well-received talks at 2011′s 360idev, on iPad game deign and component architecture for iOS games. The latter led to a variety of interesting technical and design discussions with other attendees — including a source release of both the component architecture and a sample project implemented in the 2011 360idev gamejam (in the 12 hours before said talk).

Gareth is also a regular attendee and speaker to the GDC and Develop conferences, and participates in a variety of smaller events and game jams in europe and the US.

Nick Harris is an iOS and Platform developer for Sepia Labs spending my days working on Glassboard. He’s also the developer of NewsGator Social Sites iOS, Pocket Euchre and Pocket Euchre Lite.
Phil Hassey first prototyped Galcon, a multiplayer arcade real-time strategy game, in 2006. Since then he has repeatedly re-developed the game and re-launched it several times on many platforms. Galcon for the iPhone won the 2009 IGF Innovation in Mobile Game Design award. Phil’s background includes hobbyist game development and a decade of professional web application development. Phil currently continues to make games and work on Galcon. Phil is also one of the current organizers of the Ludum Dare game jam community.
Matthew Henderson writes code for DragonForged Software in his pajamas. He lives in Boulder and in his free time is either at one of the local tap rooms or is working on the first app for his own company, Haunted Robot, which should be on the stores by the time you’re reading this.
Andria Jensen is the co-founder and CTO of Appsolute Genius. She’s been a programmer since high school and is a self-proclaimed computer nerd. If there’s a meetup about iPhone development or a nearby tech conference, you can bet she’ll be there. Originally from Huntsville, AL, and a graduate of Louisiana State University, Andria currently resides in Cary, NC where she is active in the tech community and participates in the local CocoaHeads group. Andria is an avid runner and hiker, which often takes her to many of the local parks for exercise. She loves dogs (especially pit bulls) and is frequently involved in animal rescue; most currently, she builds fences for Coalition to Unchain Dogs.
After working over ten years as a software developer and project manager in large and small companies like Robert Bosch GmbH and Cultured Code, Andreas linde now works as an independent software developer, building first class apps and works to improve various aspects for software developers.
Bob McCune is an iOS developer and instructor. He the the owner of TapHarmonic, a Twin Cities-based consulting and training company. He’s been developing software since the mid-90s and has played the role of developer, instructor, architect, and mentor on a wide variety of projects. Jim McKeeth is a Developer Evangelist for RemObjects Software and regular presenter at different conferences. He presents on .NET, Mac OSX, Delphi, Android and iPhone development topics and loves to share his passion about software development any chance he gets.
A software journeyman, Saul Mora thrives on creating well crafted code on his continuous quest to become a Master Developer. Saul is an active member of the Cocoa developer community and contributes by blogging, producing NSBrief, a Cocoa developer podcast, contributing to open source projects, and helping to teach others about the wonders and methods of developing applications. Saul is the founding panda of Magical Panda Software, seeks to create well crafted and productive applications for the Mac and iOS platforms. Saul is also an avid cyclist and has recently relocated to Denver.
Jaimee Newberry is a UX girl based in Las Vegas, NV. She led the front on the original Zappos mobile app lineup, left in June 2011 to start her own UX consulting shop and ended up joining forces with the amazing Black Pixel, focusing on client-side UX strategy + design. It has also been said that she is tall.
Greg Pierce is the founder and President of Agile Tortoise, Inc. an indie-iOS development shop. Agile Tortoise’s app including the chart topping reference app Termninology, as well as writing app Phraseology and the popular quick text capture app, Drafts.
Justine Lokanis Prattis President/Partner of Creative Algorithms, LLC, a husband and wife mobile developer team, based in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. Justine is responsible for the business and design side of their company, always being passionate about art, but with a masters degree in business. Starting out as a mechanical engineer in airbag design, Justine’s career has gone through many iterations, including Program Manager of multi-million dollar seat belt projects, and Plant Quality Manager for fog lamps, all of which has allowed her to bring her unique experience and background to her software business. First programming in BASIC on paper in grade school, before PC’s were affordable, she’s since delegated all the coding and IT work to her experienced programmer husband, Cory, as the rest of the business’ tasks and their three children keep her busy. In her spare time, Justine enjoys learning karate with her whole family, gardening, reading, and traveling.Creative Algorithms was founded in 2003, following the success of their first mobile shareware app, Date Wheel, originally available on the now defunct Palm platform. They migrated their most popular apps, Trip Boss travel manager, Serving Sizer recipe apps, and Date Wheel date calculator to the iOS platform. Ben Reubenatein is the founder of Xcellent Creations, Inc. a mobile development workshop in Denver Colorado. He enjoys long walks on the beach, sunset strolls, and kittens. Once he was accused of littering and… Littering and….
Kyle Richter is CEO and Founder of Dragon Forged Software LLC, based out of Denver Colorado. He first started writing code using BASIC on a Commodore 64 in the early ’90s. Kyle has been writing shareware for the Mac since early 2004. Dragon Forged Software was an early adapter to the App Store, releasing the first trivia game for the iPhone. Kyle has also worked on the hit iPhone titles Handshake and Transactions. He now runs a full time consulting business, working on market-leading software for iDevices and Macs. Brian Robbinshas always been pushing the limits of emerging markets in the industry and loves that he gets to keep playing around with new gadgets all the time. Brian started his career building web-based games and advergames, he also helped establish the casual games industry, and most recently has been entrenched in the hyper-volatile iPhone game space.Brian is a tireless contributor to the games industry, primarily through his work with the IGDA where he has chaired and co-founded SIGs, promoted local game development community, written numerous white papers and won the IGDA MVP award for his efforts. He is currently chair of the IGDA Board of Directors and a Trustee of the IGDA Foundation.

Brian has programmed over 100 games and still digs into code whenever he gets a chance. He is a frequent speaker at industry conferences giving talks on a wide range of topics. He lives in Aurora, CO with his loving wife and beautiful daughter.

Mollie Rusher co-founded On3, and has served as the president and CEO since 2001. Balancing her business background with her inner geek, her role has been both managerial and strategic. She is passionate about the software development industry and community, and is especially concerned about the lack of women in computing. The number of women in high-tech is only likely to improve if we work to make that happen. Her call to action for you today is to become a mentor and encourage young women you know to pursue careers in computing and engineering by showing them how totally cool it can be! Justin Shacklette spends his days working on mobile testing tools for Gorilla Logic, and his evenings working on apps and games. In his younger years, Justin earned his degree in physics before turning to development. His Evil thesis advisor had him working day and night on a portable laser beam system that could be mounted on the head of a shark. Needless to say, it didn’t work out.
Mike Schramm is a writer and editor at Joystiq and TUAW. His personal site is mikeschramm.com, and he has released an app (which he started at the 360iDev Game Jam) called Antithesis.
Michael Simmons is co-founder of Flexibits, a Mac and iOS software developer. A veteran Apple guy, Michael has been marketing, business developing, and product managing Apple-related wares for over 15 years. He’s worked at Apple, Prosoft Engineering, Ambrosia Software and Cultured Code, helping to launch, market, and maintain many successful apps. Brandon Trebitowski is a software developer and author from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Brandon holds a BS in Computer Science from The University of New Mexico and has been developing software for the last 8 years. In August of 2008, he started iCodeBlog.com to teach aspiring developers how to write software for the iPhone. After the blog was acquired by ELC Technologies in December of 2008, he began working full time for them developing mobile software.
